Classified as a historical monument, the medieval fortress of Berrye has stood majestically amidst its vineyards since the 12th century.
Built on a rocky outcrop, surrounded by dry moats and underground galleries, it was once a place of defense and refuge. Today, it still bears the traces of this glorious past.

The Fortress of Berrye, a historic place to discover
Classified as a historic monument, the medieval fortress of Berrye has stood majestically amidst its vineyards since the 12th century.

in its entirety.
The ambition of the new owners, the COLINET family, is to launch a vast restoration program that will span several years.
After some preliminary maintenance and waterproofing work, the first-priority restoration work started in the first half of 2022. It includes the restoration of the square tower (12th century), the South and East walls, as well as the redesign of the entrance room and the first floor.

The Fortress of Berrye is classified as a Historic Monument, in its entirety.

Our fortress is widely open to the public on the occasion of numerous events such as Heritage Days, Castle Night, concerts, recitals, and cultural events. In addition, visits are organized on request and include a tasting of the estate’s wines.

Lively wines produced with respect for the place, its terroir and its ancestry. 13ha of organic Chenin, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon vines surround the old medieval fortress.
