Our estate is gradually growing, and so is our team. This is a collective, family adventure, and every member plays a vital role!

Sandra and Gilles
Sandra
When she’s not working for her financial group in Paris, Sandra is a true ambassador for the Berrye estate and its wines. With her flair for ornamentation and her love for antique furniture, she directs and organizes the restoration and interior decoration of the Château’s rooms. A little (big) bonus: she’s an exceptional cook, and all our harvesters still remember her meals! 🧑🍳
Gilles
The man with enough ambition (or madness, whatever you prefer!) to be behind this project. With his experience as a business leader, an agronomist, and a nurseryman, Gilles leads all projects related to the wine estate and the restoration of the historic site with perseverance and determination. Don’t mention retirement to this new winemaker and château owner; he is always “thirsty” for knowledge and adventure!
Simon
The domain’s Swiss Army knife! Sales, marketing, vines, cellar, guide, social media manager who talks about himself in the third person 👀… everywhere and nowhere at the same time, this wine and history enthusiast found his happiness at the Berrye Fortress. The first employee of the estate and a convert to the wine world with a degree in Marketing for Terroir Wines from ESA Angers, he has been supporting the project from the beginning and is progressing enthusiastically alongside it.

Not to mention all the artisans who work daily to restore the historical monument to its former splendor, our seasonal workers and occasional harvesters who help us get the grapes out every year, and of course all our friends who never hesitate to lend a hand. You are an integral part of the Berrye Fortress family!

An environmentally friendly approach to produce quality wines
Since 2021, the estate has been in organic conversion to obtain certification within three years.
The vineyard is environmentally committed, as we are starting to implement agroforestry, beekeeping, and the presence of eco-grazing within the Fortress.
During the winemaking process, we minimize sulfur and other inputs to achieve very satisfactory levels. Sulfite levels are close to those of natural wines.

Different Saumur Wine Appellations
The location and quality of the plots allow for the production of several appellations. Saumur Rouge, Saumur Blanc, Crémant de Loire, and Coteaux de Saumur offer exceptional aging wines.
The flagship of the estate is the range of dry white wines, all made with Chenin. Each vintage allows for the development of an original and surprising character that we let express itself; uniformity is not the goal at the Berrye Fortress!
Traditional winemaking methods:
Cement tanks and 400-liter wooden barrels, long vatting, bottling after aging for up to two years.
The wines are vinified and aged in a troglodyte cellar, which allows them to have the best conditions for their development.
For the 2022 harvest, we will be delighted to present a new, still little-known appellation:
Saumur Puy-Notre Dame.
